Introducing Kesher Elementary Program for Children with Autism

Special Needs

As educators we understand that all children have special learning needs and we have always made the necessary accommodations to meet those needs. In addition, we have a long standing policy of Inclusion which has been in place since our doors opened 31 years ago. We have found that including (rather than isolating to specialized programs) children of a wide variety of differences and abilities in our classrooms an amazing lifetime learning skill is learned by typically and non-typically developing children: Acceptance. In fact, acceptance of all of students' differences is what makes "CLC." We truly live up to our mission of being a "Diverse Educational Community."

We encourage the presence of shadows for many children in our classrooms and are happy to work with you, and our special needs assessment team to find an appropriate place for your special needs child. In addition, you'll find the following available options at CLC suit many families very well:

Speech

Two On-Site Speech and Language pathologists who can be independently contracted to assist a child with his or her speech and language development.  By recommendation of parents, pediatricians or our own special needs resource teacher, the Speech and Language pathologists can assist in appropriate diagnosis and treatment of common childhood speech and language development issues.

OT

An On-Site Occupational Therapist (OT) who may be independently contracted to assist a child with his or her sensory/motor development.  A modified sensory room is available for children with sensory integration issues.  The OT works very closely with our special needs resource teacher, forming a dynamic team that is able to offer a total program both in and outside of the classroom to assist children with OT needs.

Screening

Several screening options, performed (as requested) by credentialed personnel including: behavioral disorders, developmental concerns, hearing, language, learning disabilities, speech, and vision. Our philosophy of early intervention places the utmost importance on getting special needs children and families adequate resources, and we believe the best resource to be a proper diagnosis.
